Chateau de Citeaux
The chateau de Citeaux is located in Meursault and owned by the Bouzereau family. Philippe Bouzereau, a 9th generation vigneron, took over the reigns of the estate in 2004, that his father had slowly and carefully extended since the 60's with the acquisition of blocks of land in Meursault and neighbouring appellations.
Today, from Aloxe Corton in the north to Santenay in the south, the 18 Hectares of the estate are home to an extraordinary range of prestigious appellations. Conscious of the wealth of his terroirs, Philippe has adopted a reasoned approach to viticulture and spends most of his time with his team in the vineyards, ensuring soil is worked adequately and vines are kept in good conditions with minimal interventions.
No herbicides are used, organic compost is applied only when necessary, and a severe work plan from bud burst onwards are keys to healthy vineyards as well as respect for the ecosystem.
The same approach is applied in the cellar where ferments are conducted with indigenous yeasts and the use of oak is kept to a minimum. Rather than pursuing a specific style for his wines Philippe would rather let the vintage and Terroirs express themselves.
